Your baby’s growth during weeks 29 to 32
Week 29
Your baby’s weight and size are continuing to increase this week. As a
result, you’re probably feeling increased activity inside your uterus, with your baby’s movements more frequent and vigorous. Some of your baby’s jabs and punches may even take your breath away.
Week 30
Your baby is continuing to steadily add weight and layers of fat. From now until about your 37th week of pregnancy, your baby will gain about a half-pound a week.
Your baby may be practicing breathing movements this week by moving
his or her diaphragm in a repeating rhythm. These movements may even give your baby a case of hiccups. As your baby continues making these movements, you may occasionally notice a slight twitching in your uterus, like little spasms.
At 30 weeks into your pregnancy, your baby weighs about 3 pounds and is about 10 1 /2 inches long, crown to rump.

Your baby’s growth during weeks 21 to 24
Week 21
This week your baby will begin absorbing small amounts of sugars from the amniotic fluid he or she swallows throughout the day. These sugars will pass through your baby’s digestive system, which is now developed enough to handle them. Sugars from your amniotic fluid, however, make up only a tiny portion of your baby’s nourishment. Most of what your baby needs is still being delivered through your placenta.
Also this week, your baby’s bone marrow is starting to make blood cells. The bone marrow works along with the liver and spleen, which have been responsible for making blood cells up to this point.

It starts with these tiny little flutters, as if someone is tickling me lightly from the inside. It takes me by surprise, then disappears before I can put my hand on my abdomen. Now these unexpected touches are the joy of my day. I’m feeling my baby move.
Your baby’s growth during weeks 17 to 20
Week 17
Eyebrows and hairs on your baby’s scalp are continuing to appear this week. Your baby is probably continuing to have bouts of the hiccups. Although you aren’t able to hear them, you may begin to feel them, especially if this is your second baby.
This week, brown fat is beginning to develop under your baby’s skin. This will help keep your baby warm after birth, when the temperature change from your uterus to the outside world will be quite noticeable, to say the least. Your baby will add more layers of fat in the later months of your pregnancy.

Your baby’s growth during weeks 9 to 12
Week 9
This week your baby is becoming distinctly human in shape, looking less like a tadpole and more like a person. The embryonic tail at the bottom of your baby’s spinal cord is shrinking and disappearing, and the face is more rounded.
Your baby’s head is quite large compared with the rest of the body and is tucked down onto the chest. Hands and feet are continuing to form fingers and toes, and elbows are more pronounced. Nipples and hair follicles are forming.
