.) Eat plenty of fresh fruit. Fruit is naturally sweet and full of fiber. When you have a craving for something sweet reach for a peach or other fruit.
Caution: Fruit juice is not the same. Fruit juice is full of sugar and should be avoided except in small doses. If you drink fruit juice try to buy fresh.
.) Eat fiber. Fiber is important to weight loss and maintaining your ideal weight. Sources of good fiber is fruit, vegetables, whole grains and legumes.
.) Avoid fried foods. They are loaded with fat and calories which is not good for your weight or general health.
.) Limit alcoholic beverages. They are full of sugar. Some are worse than others but it is best to limit the alcohol. Not only are they full of calories but they will cause you to eat more also. After a few drinks you don’t care a whole lot about your diet.
.) If you drink tea or coffee go easy on the cream and sugar. If possible stick to black tea or coffee. A little black tea or coffee can be beneficial. I think tea is better for you than coffee. Coffee has an alkaloid which can affect metabolism.
.) Do not skip meals! If you skip meals your body will go into starvation mode and store fat instead of burning calories. Eat at least 3 balanced meals a day and a couple of healthy snacks in between.
.) Eat breakfast. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Your body needs fuel to produce energy to get you through the day. And breakfast is not a cookie, donut, or muffin. Your body needs a combination of protein, complex carbohydrates, and a little fat.
.) Go easy on the salt. Not only is salt bad for your health but it also causes you to hold water. Salt also causes elevated blood pressure, heart disease and obesity.
.) Exercise as much as possible. If you don’t have time to walk daily then just move. Move when you are talking on the phone instead of sitting. Get up and dance to music. While cooking do squats or just move your legs.
